Join us to celebrate Holi, the Festival of Colors. Originating in India, this Hindu festival marks the end of winter and the arrival of the colorful spring season. During this joyous celebration, families eat sweets, dance to traditional folk music and throw colorful powder called gulal.
What To Expect at LICM’s Celebrate Holi
- Performances: Indian tradition bearer, Abha Roy, will lead troupe members from the Srijan Dance Company in dances that reflect the cultural underpinnings of the festival. Performances will take place in our outer lobby at noon and 2 p.m.
- Color Throw: Colors will be provided to all visitors to enjoy our color throw. We recommend you wear white to show off your colors! Color throws will take place at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Our colors are made from cornstarch and USDA food-safe colors.
- Treats: Sample sweet and savory traditional foods and a rosewater drink enjoyed during Holi celebrations.
- More Excitement: Meet rangoli artist Dr. Anju D. Modak and add your own special touch to this traditional artform. View traditional clothing and Holi Festival celebrations from around India. Decorate a mask inspired by Krishna.
- Cost: Everything for this Holi celebration is included with general admission! (That means it’s completely free for LICM members!) Thank you to our funders for their generous support.
